My Neighbour’s Lawn

My Neighbour’s Lawn

has a black scar:
eight feet by six;
four inches deep.
Burgeoning black bags
sit stacked by
the remnants of a spoil heap.

Glinting against
this dark excavation
is a silver tablespoon.

Improbable;
but then,
my brother once cut
our lawn
with a pair of scissors.
